Dr. Chiara Piccoli (Amsterdam University) is going to join us and tell us about her research on “Reimagining 17th century Amsterdam: A virtual exploration of lost interiors”. Drawing from a rich mosaic of archival sources, the 3D reconstructions presented in this talk aim to shed light on spatial dynamics and visual prominence in 17th century domestic interiors. Challenges related to uncertainty in virtual reconstructions and proposed solutions are also discussed to ensure the correct reception of these digital echoes of the past.
Her work was recently published also in “Capturing the Senses: Digital Methods for Sensory Archaeology” that was presented to our group in October and it is accessible here.
